1 May 2007:
The Garmin GNS 530 and 430 in both the Saratoga and Diamond Star have been
upgraded to WAAS-enabled units so that we can now fly precision GPS approaches
(i.e., LPV and LNAV/VNAV) in addition to more precise non-precision GPS
approached (i.e., LNAV+V). The units also now display terrain and obstacle
information, in addition to the datalink weather in both planes and the traffic
information in the Saratoga. Flying a glideslope into almost any airport
in the County is now a possibility!

N329HP. This plane is decked out, and it is fast! For more

11 August 2005:
The Board of Directors has approved a detailed and well-developed plan to
replace our current fleet of planes with 2000 model year or newer aircraft over
the next 24 to 36 months. The Board has recognized that fleet has to be
updated to ensure the Club's long-term survival as we can't continue forever
with 30+ year old airplanes!

The Board of Directors has decided to completely overhaul the interior of
Warrior N2866W with leather! This will be the first of the planes to get a
new interior, and the Club expects all the planes to have similar new interiors
installed soon. The Board also decided to install a Garmin GNS 430 in
Warrior N30LV (the Club's newest acquisition) so that all four planes will have
Garmin GNS 430 approach-approved GPS units! 66W should get its new
interior in June and 0LV should get its Garmin GPS in July.

The Club's corporate documents have been changed. Major revisions were
made to the Operating Procedures as CFIs now need to be qualified in specific

24 November 2002:
The Skylane has been returned to service with a brand new, zero-time
Continental Texas Skyways conversion 0-470-U/TS engine, as well as, a brand new
propeller. In fact, the plane is basically firewall-forward new, including
the engine mount, prop governor and engine baffling. The new engine has 20
more horsepower (250) and the prop red-lines at 2600 RPM instead of the old 2400
RPM. The recommended TBO for the new engine is 2500 hours! New
engine operating procedures have been added (See "Members Only").
29 August 2002:
The Club's fourth aircraft, N30LV, is now on the flight-line! Also, the Club's Corporate Organizational Chart, Operating Procedures, New Member Welcome Letter, Members, Officers and Directors Contact List, and MyFBO Directions have all been modified.
The Weight and Balance Calculator has also been updated to reflect the addition
of N30LV, as well as, the STC'd gross weight increases for N30LV and N2866W.
Additionally, the User's Guide and the Quick Reference Guide for N30LV's Apollo
360 GPS have been added (See "Policies" and "Members Only").
20 August 2002:
The Club has acquired its fourth aircraft, N30LV, a 1979 Piper Warrior II
PA-28-161! N30LV should be on the flight line and in its new t-hangar
around September 1, 2002 (See "Aircraft").

The Board of Directors has unanimously approved the immediate acquisition of

The members of the Board of Directors made an exciting announcement - they unanimously approved the installation of
Garmin GDL 49 satellite datalink weather receivers in the Skylane and Lance.
The GDL 49s overlay real-time NEXRAD doppler weather information on the Garmin
GNS 430 GPS/Com/Nav units already installed in the aircraft.
The Club
will complete these installations as soon as the units become readily available. To

15 January 2002:
The Club's web site has been moved to a new hosting company - the move went
well. A new cheat sheet for MyFBO has been added (See "Members Only").
3 January 2002:
Today the Club officially switched exclusively to the web-based scheduling
and billing service, MyFBO (See "Scheduling"). Detailed instructions for
using the service have been added (See "Members Only").
19 December 2001:
The remainder of the corporate documents that needed to be updated to
conform to the new Bylaws and Operating Procedures have been revised. A
direction sheet for using MyFBO has been added (See "Members Only").
12 December 2001:
The Bylaws and Operating Procedures have been substantially revised.
There is now only one category of membership, and the insurance
check-out/currency requirements have also been revised. While these
changes are not officially effectively until January 1, 2002, the updated
documents are already provided on this web site (See "Policies"). Other
corporate documents will be changed to reflect the new Bylaws and Operating
Procedures, and an Instructor Information Sheet has been added (See "Policies").

27 August 2001:
The Board of Directors has approved the reorganization of the Club and its
corporate documents. The Bylaws, Operating Procedures and Corporate
Organizational Chart have been changed. Additionally, The Billing
Coordinator is now called the Assistant Treasurer, and the job description for
the Assistant Treasurer, as well as revised job descriptions for the Aircraft
Crew Chiefs and a revised Aircraft Squawk Sheet, are now on-line (See "Policies"). The separate
Officer Job Descriptions and At-Large Directors Job Descriptions have been
incorporated into the Bylaws and deleted. The orientation sheets and
welcome letters have also been updated (See "Members Only").
11 August 2001:
Several new resources have been added, including the Garmin GNS 430 user's
manual, the Garmin GNS 430 computer simulator, the S-TEC System 50 user's manual
and the PowerTow Model 40 EZ user's manual. Additionally, the Club's
on-line weight and balance calculator has been updated to reflect new loading
and c.g. diagram information for the aircraft resulting from the recent upgrades
(see "Members Only").
8 August 2001:
The Skylane returned today with its Garmin GNS 430 and S-Tec 50 autopilot
installed - they look great! The avionics upgrades scheduled for this year
are now complete! We also had a new PowerTow Model 40 EZ delivered for the
Lance - now the Lance is easier to move in and out of its hangar.
5 July 2001:
The Lance returned from the avionics shop today with a new Garmin GNS 430
installed! In a couple of weeks, the Skylane will receive its Garmin GNS
430 and, at the same time, an S-Tec 50 two-axis autopilot - now all three
aircraft will have autopilots AND IFR approach-approved GPS receivers with
color moving maps!

The Warrior returned from the avionics shop today with a new Garmin GNS 430
installed - awesome! The Lance should be back in a week with its GNS 430

The President and Vice President made an exciting announcement! The

Glendale and join the Club. Individuals interested in Glendale receive $100 off the

but prospective members are still welcomed and encouraged to apply.]
31 December 2000:
The Warrior recently returned from its annual with a new Tanis electric
pre-heater installed. The Tanis system keeps the oil sump and each
cylinder warm so the entire engine is evenly heated and ready to start.
Pre-heating has never been so easy - just plug it in after your flight and
forget it - the plane is always ready for the next member! The Skylane and
Lance go in to annual next and we hope to have similar Tanis pre-heaters
installed in both of them as well.
04 November 2000:
The Club has acquired the new domain name of www.glendaleflyingclub.com
to make it easier for interested parties to find our web site. When
someone uses the new domain name, they will be forwarded to our main domain name
(www.glendaleflying.com)
automatically. Both domain names will remain active.
