Visiting Fay - August 2008
Max Underwood flies to Gulf Shores as Hurricane Fay came knocking.
Helpful Advice: Don't fly close to storms that have their own names!
The pictures of the Garmin GPSMAP 496 did not come out well because of the glare, but they are still interesting!
In the picture above, you can see that the track to KJKA (Jack Edwards in Gulf Shores, AL) is just on the western edge of the storm system.

In the previous two pictures, you can see the clouds that are part of the storm system.
In the previous three pictures notice how the cumulous started to build above the stratus layer. Once the cumulous touched the stratus layer, the cumulous broke off from the bottom and were sucked up into the stratus layer.
The pressure continued to fall as Max processed South, but it fell sharply as he got closer to the beach. In the previous two pictures, look at the distance to KJKA on the GPS and note the drop in the pressure as shown on the Kollsman window of the altimeter.
