Excerpt from Jeff Sherwood about his family's 2002 Holiday trip in the Lance -
After getting the alternator fixed [replaced] that night and continuing to NY the next day, we had a great trip. Our second (planned) stop was near Harrisburg (part of the reason I diverted there the first day), and we arrived just as the first grains of sleet fell. The next day (Xmas) put nine inches down and, with no hangar space at this sleepy airport, it was almost fun sweeping the plane clean the next day. Almost, that is. Next time I boot up I'll toss in this picture of the scene. Ours was about the only one not dumped on its tail by the weight of snow. They actually plowed the ramp and runway the next day, but they left an icy coating which didn't need to challenged with 20-plus knots of crosswind. The sun broke out to melt the ice and the wind calmed down enough to get us out in the late afternoon, so we pressed on to VA only a few hours behind our plan. The final leg was no problem. All in all, it was an ideal general aviation trip with its challenges and flexibility.
