HANGAR:
Glendale Flying Club announces its largest project ever!
On January 21, 2004, the Louisville Regional Airport Authority awarded Glendale Flying Club an executive hangar lease agreement for an undeveloped site at Bowman Field.
Due to its sound financial status, the Club secured favorable financing from Fifth Third Bank to fund the project without the members putting up any personal funding or collateral.
The Club will construct a new executive hangar for its members and aircraft, with a target completion date of Summer or Fall 2004.
The executive hangar will be located on Moran Ave. next to existing Hangar 5 (currently occupied by Aero-Tech), and will feature:

March 26, 2004: The Lease has been signed and the Memorandum of Lease has been recorded with the Jefferson County Clerk. The construction contract and the loan documents are being finalized, and they should be fully executed in the next few days. The steel building and the three bi-fold doors have been ordered, the hangar and site engineering plans have been finalized, the environmental site assessment and soil sampling has been completed, and the FAA has approved the hangar construction. And, perhaps most excitingly, the Club has decided to build two 600 sq. ft. climate-controlled offices - one directly on top of the other! The first floor office will have kitchen, bathroom, computerized flight planning and lounge areas, and the second floor office will be set up as a meeting and ground training room. We should be breaking ground soon, and we hope to be in by mid to late Summer 2004!
April 20, 2004: The hangar loan has been closed, the building permit has been obtained, and dirt is being moved!

Mike McGrath (left) and Tony Aldi (right) posing with 66W in the hangar - who has the bigger smile - Mike and Tony, or 66W?!?! On the way over from the East T's, we called Bowman Ground and asked to taxi to "Glendale" - Ground's response was "Warrior 66W, taxi as requested." - awesome!
September 28, 2004: The roof is complete, and three sides are almost finished! The electrical for the offices is also complete!
October 7, 2004: Progress is being made! Drywall is in both offices, and the siding is getting close to being finished. We hope to be in by the end of the month!
October 14, 2004: Painting party!
December 30, 2004: A lot has been going on the past 2.5 months. Mostly, we have been dealing with slope and drainage issues that have caused significant delays to the project. However, today, we are finally (after years of work) able to move in! We still have some punch-list items to complete with the contractor, some pictures to hang on the walls, and some electronics to move in, but we are very excited to be to this point! Say goodbye to the t-hangars, Glendale has a new home!
