Chicago, the Windy City - September 29, 2002
Tony Aldi needed a few more hours with Jody Kirwan to complete his checkout in the Lance. Instead of spending the usual money to burn holes in the sky around Bowman Field, Tony had the great idea of taking our spouses to Chicago for the day. After waiting for early-morning thunderstorms to leave the area, Tony began a great approach to Runway 18 at Meigs Field. Here on left downwind to left base, you can see that the visibility was still limited following the storm ....

Tony starts the turn from base to final while Jody takes some pictures ...

and some more pictures ...

Tony's got the Lance lined up - nothing like being 400 feet over the water in gusty winds!

But the scenery makes it all worthwhile!

Check out all the sailboats ...

and the aquarium.

Short final - cleared to land.

Kelly Kirwan and Myra Aldi enjoying Navy Pier. The visibility is getting better, but the winds just won't let up.

Kelly and Jody Kirwan - gotta love the hair!

The Chicago Skyline sure is prety!

Kelly Kirwan with Myra and Tony Aldi enjoying some of the inside sites at Navy Pier - how does the water do that?!?!

The river ...

and Michigan Avenue.

Time to leave, but just one more picture of the Skyline!

Boy, that wind is STILL blowing - and (un)fortunately, right across the runway! We had a great time, and Tony flew like a pro!
